Rara Lake

Nepal's largest and deepest freshwater lake, nestled at 2,990 meters in the remote Mugu district. Often described as a shimmering blue jewel surrounded by pristine pine forests and snowcapped peaks.

Overview

Rara National Park is an untamed sanctuary in Far-Western Nepal. The deep sapphire waters of Rara Lake reflect the blue skies and snow-clad ridges of Chuchemara Danda. Far from the busy trekking corridors of Everest and Annapurna, Rara offers absolute silence, horseback riding along the lakeshore, and encounters with rare Himalayan black bears and red pandas.
